Mother Nurture's MilkDepot Mother Nurture is a Milk Depot for the Indiana Mother's Milk Bank. This means that we are a local drop off site for breast milk donations to the milk bank. If you have excess breast milk that you are interested in donating, contact Indiana Mother's Milk Bank directly at info@immb.org or 1-877-829-7470. The process is simple and requires a health screening and blood draw. Once you're an approved donor, simply bring your milk to Mother Nurture and we'll take care of getting it to IMMB.  IMMB then screens and pasteurizes the milk and then sends it to hospital neonatal intensive care units and individuals with special health needs (prescription required) throughout the Midwest.  Our own, UK hospital uses donor human milk in their NICU for the smallest and most fragile babies.  Using donor human milk instead of highly processed infant formula made from cow's milk results in babies growing faster and healthier and greatly reduces deaths from necrotizing enterocolitis (a common infection in preemies that results in the break down of the gut and often results in death).  Your breast milk donation can have a huge impact in the lives of our most at-risk babies.  If you believe in this cause, but don't have any milk to donate, IMMB is also in need of financial donations.  They run this whole operation on a very tiny budget with only 2-3 employees at a time.  They are truly amazing and can really use donations to maintain their equipment and provide supplies to donor mothers (storage bags, shipping supplies if they're not near a milk depot, etc.) See our blog articles about the Milk Depot: Milk Depot Press Release What You Always Wanted to Know About Breast Milk Donation but Were Afraid to Ask A Milk Depot?
