Used Breast Pumps

Breast Pump Trials - Call 859.335.5949 to schedule.

Try before you buy! Try each of our personal use double electric purchase pumps or our hospital grade rental breast pumps. Due to cross-contamination concerns, Mother’s milk may not be kept when trying personal use pumps due to the risk of cross contamination of the breast milk. Milk may be kept when trying the hospital grade rental pumps.  Breast Pump Trials are recommended a few weeks after delivery, not immediately after delivery. Breast Pump Trials are NOT for pregnant women. Click here for rates.

See our page on Used Breast Pumps for information on sharing, borrowing or purchasing pre-owned breast pumps.

Breast Pump Testing
Concerned your breast pump may not be working properly? Bring it in to Mother Nurture and we'll test the vacuum pressure of your pump. This can determine whether your pump is working effectively. If not, we can troubleshoot with replacement parts or determine that pump is simply not working properly.

Purchasing a Breast Pump

Ensure that you are purchasing a quality breast pump that will meet your pumping needs by purchasing a breast pump at Mother Nurture. Our knowledgeable staff can discuss your pumping needs and recommend the right pump for you.  We can advise you on proper pumping techniques, collecting and storing milk and answer any other questions you may have about using a breast pump.  We only offer quality breast pumps from Medea which has a proven track record of quality performance AND our prices are the same as the big box stores!  We will be happy to help you learn to use your breast pump.

A quality breast pump is designed with breast pumping success in mind and more closely mimics the cycles and suction levels of a baby at the breast.Since there is no regulation on breast pump performance, many companies are taking advantage of the “new market of breastfeeding Moms” by producing cheap goods to sell to them. Often, these breast pumps do not adequately stimulate the breast causing the milk supply to decrease and ending the breastfeeding relationship. As a result, Moms are forced to purchase bottled feeding supplies made by the same company – interesting coincidence.

All of the following receive poor reviews in the lactation literature and have poor track records when used by the majority of breastfeeding mothers: Evenflo, Gerber, First Years, MagMag, Playskool. All of these pumps either allow for suction levels beyond what has been determined as safe for breast and nipple tissue or cycle far below effective frequencies (as low as 4-7 cycles for minute for some of them). Most also require the mother to regulate the cycles.

Breast Pump Replacement Parts
We carry all replacement parts, including tubing and hard to find parts, for the Medela personal use (Pump In Style, Swing, Single Deluxe and Harmony) and hospital grade (Symphony and Lactina) breast pumps.
