Meet Our Staff Meet Mother Nurture: Mother Nurture was conceived by Cerise Bouchard in 2006. Cerise was inspired by her own pregnancy, birth and parenting to open a shop to provide parenting resources that were lacking in Lexington at the time. By connecting with other Moms, she learned that many others shared her frustrations over the lack of resources and knowledge about breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing and healthier alternatives. Cerise graduated from Transylvania University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology with a focus on women’s issues as they relate to Mothering. She worked with preschool families for 7 years before opening Mother Nurture in 2006. In 2007, Cerise became certified as a Lactation Counselor and expanded the breastfeeding support services at Mother Nurture. ![]() Cerise Bouchard
Cerise is married to Craig Caudill and they have two children, Garrett (2005) and Remy (2008). Both children were breastfed, cloth diapered and worn in various baby carriers by both parents.

Patty Webb After witnessing the beauty of my daughter's Montessori preschool education, I decided to go back to school in 2005 to become a Montessori teacher for children birth to 3 years of age. I am currently working as an assistant primary level teacher at Community Montessori School and plan to begin my primary level certification in July of 2012.I am also in the process of completing my postpartum doula certification through DONA and hope to finish in November of this year. My own struggles as a new mother during Madeleine's first year of life influenced my desire to learn how to help families achieve a more joyful and integrated postpartum transition. I love working at Mother Nurture because I can tangibly serve new families by offering wonderful products, expert services, and caring support. My favorite part of working at Mother Nurture is witnessing the deep love that first-time parents have for their baby. Having a baby is a truly one of life's most sacred events! ![]() Karen Tompkins Karen began working at Mother Nurture in August of 2011. After having a premature baby and struggling to breastfeed her successfully, Karen become passionate about breastfeeding and loves helping mamas get the assistance they need in order to have a successful breastfeeding relationship. Eventually, she would like to become a lactation specialist, in order to provide more help to mamas and babies in more hands-on ways. Karen is an active member of Bluegrass Babywearers, and enjoys telling new parents about the benefits of wearing their baby in a quality sling or carrier, and has been cloth diapering her daughters, Ella, and Amelia. Karen is usually seen wearing Amelia in a wrap or mei tai while working at Mother Nurture. ![]() Rhea Campbell I'm very excited to be working somewhere devoted to mothers that provides them with all the education and support they need to be successful throughout pregnancy, child birth, breast feeding, and beyond. Not only is this an excellent resource for first time mothers, but its a place where experienced moms can get new ideas and exchange old ones. Motherhood is the most exciting time of any woman's life and can also be scary. I'm proud to be apart of a group where we support individuals and their choices for the most important roll they will ever play. I am a proud mama of two girls, Shelby (Dec 2007) and Hayes (May 2011) with a wonderful husband Lance I met during school at Georgetown College. I have had an easy time breast feeding one girl and a hard time making enough milk with the other. I have had a natural birth with one and been induced with epidural with another. I've had both a cuddler and one who wanted to be laid down and left alone. I have stayed at home and worked while trusting daycare. I hope my two experiences with two very different children will help moms in whatever situations they may find themselves. My goal is to educate so mothers can choose what is best for their children and families while providing the support they need not only from a business, but from a friend as well. ![]() Donna Miles In addition to working at Mother Nurture helping with breastfeeding latch checks, Donna provides doula care and family concierge services. Having assisted over 40 women and their partners during their birth experience, she realized the need of many of these families for more support during their postpartum time. She began to specialize as a Postpartum Doula and has worked with over 100 families in the Lexington/Bluegrass area. She especially enjoys supporting new breastfeeding moms as she remembers her own recovery and struggles after the birth of her first baby. "It is truly an honor to be invited to share in this special time with my families and to help encourage, educate, care for and emotionally support the postpartum woman and her partner." She is a DONA-trained Postpartum Doula and a Certified Lactation Specialist. As part of her commitment to women, she now facilitates the "Hens and Chicks" gathering which is a weekly meeting for first-time moms and their babies under 6 months.
